Therapy with heart, humor and zero judgement.
Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you — because you’re not broken. It’s about learning why your brain does the weird little things it does, unpacking the emotional junk drawer you’ve been avoiding, and figuring out how to feel more like yourself again. At AMH Counseling, we believe healing can be messy, honest, uncomfortable, empowering, and occasionally even funny. You don’t have to have it all together to start — you just have to show up as you are.
About me
Alyssa Hurchick, LPC NCC
Welcome! I’m Alyssa, a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been working in the mental health field since 2016 after earning my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Scranton. My passion for this work began in high school when I had a counselor who helped me navigate the chaos of being a teenager and showed me firsthand how powerful feeling truly heard and supported can be.
Over the years, I’ve worked in both inpatient and outpatient substance use counseling before finding my home in private practice, where I specialize in EMDR therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and comfortable being fully yourself. Therapy isn’t always easy — growth can feel uncomfortable at times — but you don’t have to figure it out alone. I’m here to support and gently challenge you as you grow into the most authentic version of yourself.
My Approach
I take a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy and tailor treatment to each individual’s unique needs and goals. I utilize evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and EMDR to help clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, and other challenges. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to create meaningful and lasting change.
